An unscheduled issue of KEP stamps is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic were formed in 1992. They are a combination of military units of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, the State Border Service and the National Guard of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, there are quick reaction forces, which include special mobile units.
According to the Military Doctrine of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Armed Forces are called upon to provide armed protection of the national interests of the Kyrgyz Republic. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, established in February 2014, is the main command body.
The armed forces of our country take an active part in international military cooperation. Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Members of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic participate in UN peacekeeping missions. The Ministry of Defence also cooperates with NATO countries within the framework of the “Partnership for Peace” program. Annually in the country there are joint Kyrgyz-Turkish and Kyrgyz-American exercises of special forces, as well as Kyrgyz-French exercises in mountain and rock climbing training. There is also an agreement with the Russian Federation, according to which, Kyrgyz citizens are trained in military institutes of the Russian Federation.
