Salbuurun - Traditional Kyrgyz Hunting. Taigans (second part of the series)
On July 28th the State Committee of Information Technology and Communications of the
Kyrgyz Republic puts into circulation new KEP postage stamps, dedicated to Salbuurun. This
series is a continuation of the KEP project, which started last year and implied various activities
within Salbuurun.
The stamps represent taigans – a unique national breed of hunting dogs that are
irreplaceable assistants at traditional Kyrgyz hunting. Taigans are very well adapted to the high
altitudes. Taigans are very much appreciated by hunters, because they are very manoeuvrable,
persistent during pursuit and have great endurance for running.
The series consists of three stamps, depicting different stages of Kyrgyz hunting, involving
hunting dogs.
