Trainspotting. Locomotives in Kyrgyzstan
Newsletter no. 93.pdf
On April 30, 2024 the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz
Republic puts into circulation a series of 2023 Kyrgyz Express Post postage stamps: "Trainspotting.
Locomotives in Kyrgyzstan".
Trainspotting is a hobby that involves watching and photographing
trains. KEP stamps feature the following locomotives, observed by trainspotters in Kyrgyzstan:
PEU1 is an electric locomotive designed for use on
narrow-gauge industrial railways. During Soviet times, these electric locomotives were produced in
Dnepropetrovsk. They are used on the Sülüktü narrow-gauge railway in Kyrgyzstan for transporting coal and
other goods.
TEM2 is a six-axle shunting diesel locomotive with electric
transmission. This locomotive was produced in the USSR starting from 1960 and was one of the most common
shunting diesel locomotives.
2TE10V is a two-section mainline freight diesel locomotive,
produced by the Voroshilovgrad Locomotive Works in the USSR from 1974 to 1981. Diesel power is 2 x 3,000
hp.
TE33A is a modern freight diesel locomotive produced in
Kazakhstan under the license of GE Transportation (USA). Design speed is 120 km/h. Five diesel locomotives
of this type are in operation on the railways of Kyrgyzstan.
KEP expresses its gratitude to all the authors for providing
photographs!
For this series, KEP also issues four postcards, which are used to
realize four maximum cards.
