In 2017, we commemorate 25 years since the establishment of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic. For this event, we dedicate a new KEP souvenir sheet with three stamps. These stamps display the banknotes and coins of the Kyrgyz national currency, the Som.
The history of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic begins with the sovereignty gained by the State. By the Resolution of the Supreme Council of March 6, 1992, the Kyrgyz State Bank, established in 1991, was transformed into the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The objective of the National Bank is to achieve and maintain price stability through conducting appropriate monetary policy. The National Bank has the exclusive right to issue currency banknotes.
The main tasks contributing to the achievement of the National Bank’s objectives are to maintain the purchasing power of the national currency and to ensure efficiency, security and reliability of the banking and payment systems of the Kyrgyz Republic in order to promote the country’s long-term economic growth.
The souvenir sheet is issued by the proposal and with the support of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
